SCHOOL OF SWIMMING FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES IN DEVELOPMENT (Halliwick therapy)
"LITTLE DOLPHIN" 

THE AUTHOR OF THE PROJECT

Program is prepared in The Association of Parents of the Hardest Physical Disabled Persons and Children with Special Needs “Angels”.

Goal
We organize in town Split school of swimming for children with special needs. Swimming is a sport that is the most appropriate to children, and particularly to children with special needs.

Activities
Experiences show that through the sustained work with children in pool, by special method of working – Halliwick method – they accomplish great results, and particularly in developing motor abilities, which is the goal of this project.

 Ways of conduction
Program is hold on beach Bene in summer time (July and August) two times a week with two instructors which are experts, together with parents, and through the other months in pools on Poljud.

Expected results
With conduction of this program we will show useless of the program and need of organize rehabilitation program on pools thanks to institutions and it will include all children who needs this program, and even children and parents will probably spent quality time.
It is proved by science that making this exercises brain gets reversible impulses. Thanks to given reversible impulses, repetitive even 5000 times one movement, it is created new lines between ganglions in grey cortex in brain which outflank damaged cells and implementation task of damaged cells.
Then child or person perform move like he like he always could do it.

INITIATIVE “DAR PO MJERI SRCA” (“The Gift by the Rhythm of a Hart”)

Conduction of this project is enabled by financial support of National Foundation for Development of civil society.

Attention of Initiative "DAR PO MJERI SRCA" (“The Gift by the Rhythm of a Hart”) is collecting didactic accessories (wooden toys, conformance toys, puzzle, stories...), and also didactic material (color papers - copies, plasticine, pencils, colored pencils...), for children who are members of our Association.

Project was conducted from 1 ^t January, year 2006 and lasted since 31^st of March, year 2006.

Response to this project was big so we gather great number of toys and didactic accessories.

Initiative supported students, members of AISEC-a, which started with action of reaching resources for buying materials (wood), which will in cooperation with School of Building and Technical School, as constitution of school programs, help in completion of Playground with didactic toys.

We made a brochure with advices to parents with disabilities children that are in all hospitals, Health Institutions, thermal springs, polyclinics, and ambulances….

Information Center

In Croatia there is no place where parents can ask for help so that they can insure rights for their child and find the possibilities of healing, rehabilitation and habilitation. That is very important special when child in young age and their brain is more plastic. Parents find out information picking them up and mostly after some time.

So there is idea about project – Information center which would cover all area of interest for persons with special needs and their families. The quality of care and quality of life of persons with special needs would be much better. Information center should be independent from national institutions. We believe we can insure quality and complete information. Information center should be known institutions, and that is possible thanks to any media. One center of that type could bring feed back about ''system'' needs and situation on “the ground”.
